Calculators
Date Difference
Calculate the calendar difference (years, months, days) and the total days, weeks, weekdays and business days between two dates.
How it works
Time reports two different things and labels them clearly. The calendar difference adds whole years, then whole months, then counts the remaining days — so it respects month lengths. The absolute duration is simply the number of days between the dates.
By default the end date isn't counted (from Monday to Friday is 4 days). Turn on Include the end date to count it too. Weekdays and weekend days use a Saturday–Sunday weekend; use the Business Days calculator for other weekends and holidays.
Worked example
From 2 July 2024 to 7 October 2026: the calendar difference is 2 years, 3 months, 5 days, while the absolute duration is 827 days (118 weeks and 1 day) — 591 weekdays and 236 weekend days.
From 29 February 2024 to 28 February 2025 is 11 months and 30 days, not a year: there's no 29 February in 2025 to complete it.
Edge cases handled
- Leap years: 1900 wasn't one, 2000 was (century rule).
- 29 February start dates in non-leap years.
- Months of different lengths: 31 January → 28 February is 28 days, not “1 month”.
- End dates before the start date (shown as a positive difference, counted backwards).
- The same date on both sides (zero).
